In DMIC Corridor Dholera Smart City is the Biggest Smart City in India


Talleen Kumar,Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMIC) has confirmed commencement of work in the first smart city of India- Dholera Smart City in Gujarat. With this, Modi’s dream of creating 100 smart cities seems to be taking form and India seemingly moving towards a better future that shall foster collective prosperity and industrial growth.

When asked on the details on the two cities that the government has decided to start with, he said that the development of Shendra Bhidkin shall be divided into several phases. The phase 1 is expected to be completed by 2019 is everything goes as per schedule. The phase 1 shall involve development of 153 square kilometer of area in Dholera SIR and 40 square kilometer in Shendra Bidkin. However an activation area has been decided and trunk infrastructure project shall commence on that. This activation zone area shall be limited to 22.5 square kilometer for Dholera and 8.39 square kilometer for Shendra Bidkin.

When asked for views on the land acquisition laws in the country and the major amendments which he thinks are important for the betterment, he expressed that currently the processes are slow because of the protocol is thoroughly followed, it might take some years for acquiring land. This can possibly delay the smart city projects and slow down the speed making it a challenge for the government.


He also confirmed that a formal go ahead has been received for development of three other smart cities apart from the Dholera SIR project mentioned above. These shall be Vikram Udyogpuri Township near Ujjain in MP, Integrated Industrial Township in Greater Noida in Uttar pradesh and Global City in Gurgaon in Haryana. Work shall be started on all once land is finalized and acquired for the project.
The 48,000 crore project has taken off and has raised big hopes in the hearts of common man, industrialists and society on a whole. The next four years shall be a witness to undeterred growth towards a more VIBRANT INDIA!
